This is a parcel of 20 pounds / 9.71 kg, pieces of ore from the California State Gem Mine, aka Benitoite Gem Mine.
Each piece is in it's natural state and could be a specimen, and as with all types of mineral specimens, each piece is truly a one of a kind!
They are all 100% natural and have not been cleaned with anything other than water. This is one medium flat rate postal box, filled to the top with random size pieces then weighed.
This ore is blue schist, crossite, with natrolite from the mine.
The pieces may show some signs of neptunite crystals or some minor benitoite crystals could be visible.
The pieces range in size from about 2 inches up to approx. 6 inches. All of the pieces have some level and form of natrolite on them.
If you know this material, then you know the possibility is there in and under the natrolite for benitoite, as natrolite was the last mineral to form at the locale, area covering most crystals. As with any type of mining or raw material like this, there can be no guarantees, however just one nice specimen can pay for this entire parcel.
