Here is a beautiful, top quality, faceted benitoite gemstone.
Faceted Benitoite like this one, over 1 carat are near impossible to come by these days.
This gem is very eye clean, using a 10X loupe, there is a very slight inclusions,
which is well hidden in the very edge of the girdle, that you must use magnification to see.
The color is a beautiful benitoite deep blue with violet. Even though the G.I.A. report calls it violet, it is much more blue to my eye.
Due to the pleochroic nature of Benitoite, the stone can appear lighter, darker or almost colorless, depending on the lighting and viewing angle.
This beauty has amazing fire in the sunlight.
For those of you that are not familiar with Benitoite, this gem is a true All American Gemstone!
All other species of minerals that gems are cut from, can be found in different locations either within this country or around the world.
However Gem Quality Benitoite is ONLY found in one very small area in California,
which is also why it is the California State Gemstone, and considered one of the, if not the, rarest gemstone in the world!
