Here is a beautiful, top quality, faceted benitoite gemstone.
Faceted Benitoite of top quality over 1 carat are near impossible to come by these days.
This beautiful Benitoite has a story behind it.
I found the unusual crystal that this stone was cut from 15 years ago and had it cut.
I say unusual not only for it's size, but because the crystal was bi-colored.
The crystal was deep blue to completely colorless with very sharp color zone change.
I sold it not long after getting the original G.I.A. report, and now 15 years later, it has returned to me once again to find it a new home.
This gem is very eye clean, using a 10X loupe, You cannot see any internal inclusions.
Face up it is a beautiful Violetish Blue. Due to the amazing cut, all the blue color fills the stone face up.
Turn it to the side or turn it over, and you will clearly see the bi-colorations sharp color zone change from deep blue to colorless.
G.I.A. calls it a triangular cut only because the sides are not exactly equal, but to the eye it looks like a regular trillion cut.
The sharp bi-coloration make this a very unique Benitoite Gemstone.
For those of you that are not familiar with Benitoite, this gem is a true All American Gemstone!
All other species of minerals that gems are cut from, can be found in different locations either within this country or around the world.
However Gem Quality Benitoite is ONLY found in one very small area in California,
which is also why it is the California State Gemstone, and considered one of the, if not the, rarest gemstone in the world!
