This beautiful gem comes from the Rhodochrosite being recovered in the newer Detroit City Portal.
It is precision cut as you will see, some of the finest cut Sweet Home Rhodos I have come across.
This gem is eye clean, with a 10x loupe, you will see a slight inclusion.
In indoor lighting it can look reddish pink, a more salmon coloring, or even a more orangy color.
The photos show two different lighting types to help show the color shift.
In the sunlight this stone is so brilliant and dispersive.
Who knew that Rhodochrosite showed such great color dispersion!
