Beryl, var. Aquamarine, DT, California Blue Mine, San Bernardino County, CA.
Here is a very nice crystal of Aquamarine from this fairly new find.
This newly discovered pegmatite and mine was featured in the Nov. / Dec. 2012 issue of Rock & Mineral Magazine. This specimen was dug during their 2012 digs.
This wonderful large aqua crystal has a very interesting tapered growth. Fully terminated on both ends, with the largest end having some nice etching to it. It is translucent to transparent greenish blue in color. The largest termination also showed some nice growth patterns on its face. No damage to the crystal, just some natural etching and one point of contact with another crystal.
Crystal measures approx. 4.0 cm x 1.48 cm x 2.0 cm (2.0 at the widest end) and weighs 17.2 grams
