Here is an amazing large cabinet specimen from a new find.
Here is a specimen of Beryl, var. Aquamarine in a matrix of Clevelandite and Quartz with Lepidolite. It comes from the California Blue Mine (Sunset Zone) in San Bernardino County, California.
This newly discovered pegmatite and mine was featured in the Nov. / Dec. 2012 issue of Rock & Mineral Magazine. This specimen was one of many discovered last year.
This specimen is a multi sided specimen and very hard to photograph in it's entirety. There are exposed aquamarine crystals on every side. At least three of the large aqua crystals have nice tip terminations.
It has two large smoky quarts crystals sitting atop of the clevelandite and quartz matrix. Between the two smokys are two books of lepidolite.
the largest aqua crystal measures 4.65 cm long. The specimen measures approx. 12.08 cm x 9.69 cm x 6.15 cm.
A very showy specimen from this new discovery that would be best viewed on a turn table.
