Beryl var. Aquamarine
Erongo Namibia
9.0 cm x 5.6 cm x 2.1 cm

This amazingly rare specimen comes from a very small find back in 2005.
It has the original label from Minerals Lunchbox, the sellers who brought these unusual beryls to market.
(See photo of the MinRec page announcing these beryls at the Ste.-Marie-aux Mines show in 2006 and their write up of the material).
This was the first of it's kind find, and many years before the find in Afghanistan.
It is said that some testing after they were brought to market showed these to be the first alkali beryl discovered, however it seems the proof of these tests are no where to be found.
So without any tests to prove it, I will just refer to it as tabular aquamarine.
Specimens such as these are a rare find in the market, This specimen is larger than the few I have seen from this find in the last few years,
this one being a small cabinet size at 9 cm long and crystals up to 1.6 cm x 6.5 mm thick.
The specimen is double sided with the back side having some that are smaller and more pale in color.
Includes a custom milled acrylic base by Stone Throne.
