Benitoite Crystal Specimen, 9.98 carats
Here is one very nice large benitoite crystal.
If you know benitoite, then you know larger crystal specimens are rare to come by,
since most larger crystals are usually saved for faceting or cabbing.
This crystal weighs 9.98 carats and measures approx. 14.9 mm x 11.2 mm x 7.6 mm.
The blue in the photos is a bit more blue that what the eye picks up. Still, it has great color and a few nice faces.
It has overall good form, but not very sharp as it was formed within a vein of matrix,
which shows as pock marks on the surface of some faces.
It has one point of contact on the backside.
It has some areas of very good transparency.
It glows very brightly under shortwave UV.
This is a must have for the rare crystal specimen collector.
