Here is a great large cabinet size specimen of Blue Corundum in Matrix. This specimen comes from Gallatin County, Montana.

Specimens like these are very hard to come by.

These blue crystals of corundum are within a granite and mica type matix. There are a few dozen crystals within this specimen. The largest crystal measures approx. 2.1 cm long x 1.24 cm thick and is well terminated.

The entire specimen weighs approx. 676 grams or 1.07 pounds. It measures approx. 12.7 cm x 8.4 cm x 7.26 cm.
