Here is a very special specimen of Fluorite over Quartz. The fluorite is such a dark purple it looks almost black.

The Octohedron are mostly inter-grown and range from thousands of micro sized crystals in a druzy coating to the large ones at the top which measure up to approx. 2 cm.

Some of the fluorite coating is obviously gone, at one time it may have been completely coated. 

The quart that the fluorite is attached to is a beautiful smoky with citrine coloring that has some pretty amazing phantoms that are visible through one face. 

No visible damage, just at the base of the quartz crystal where it was obviously removed from a cluster of crystals.
