Fluorite with Calcite & Barite
Rosiclare Mining District, Rosiclare Shaft, Rosiclare Vein,
Rosiclare, Hardin County, Illinois,
20 cm x 10 cm x 6.6 cm, 1.99 kg
ex. William A. Wilson Collection
Here is a large beautiful specimen of Fluorite with Calcite and Barite.
It is a beautiful display specimen. Large inter-grown cubes of fluorite that are sharp, and well zoned.
Light yellow core with purple outer zones and very transparent, making the zones very visible, no back lighting needed!
The fluorite is included with some level of petroleum in micro amounts,
giving them all rainbow iridescence within, quite the internal color show as you move it in the light.
There are a 3 cleaved crystals around this large specimen, None are the main large focal crystals, all at the edges,
and one has been re-healed, but these are not easy to tell and they make it easier to see the internal iridescence in some of the crystals.
There is a single crystal that has a damaged edge, but not on the front face,
If not for these issues, the asking price would be at least 4 times the current.
Overall a pretty amazing large specimen, great display specimen and even better in person.
