Here is a great lustrous Andradite Garnet specimen. It comes from the famous Garnet Hill location near Moore Creek in Calaveras County, California.

This small cabinet size specimen measures approximately 5.5 cm x 4.8 cm with most of the individual garnet crystals ranging between 1.0 and 1.5 cm. 

The crystals are more reddish brown in color and have higher luster, and has some nice contrasting white quartz.  The bulk of the quartz actually grew after the garnets formed covering them. Once the quartz was removed the garnets appeared.  Like most garnet specimens from this location, the crystals are on a massive garnet matrix.  There is some bruised and partial crystals around the edges as seen in the photos.
