Here is a wonderful piece of Mineral Collecting History.
Albert Edward Foote, [1846–1895], M. D., Naturalist,
was one of America's most famous early mineral dealers.
By the time of his death, he had the largest cataloged collection of minerals, most self collected.
After his death, his son Warren followed in his fathers footsteps, to brings specimens from around America and the world to collectors.
This is a nice specimen of Cinnabar on matrix from a very old California locale.
On the top side of the matrix are micro druzy crystals of cinnabar.
It has the "Foote" label attached to it and comes with the original collection box / base.
