Kammererite is the rare, chromium-bearing variety of clinochlore.
There is nothing that quite matches the vivid purple-red hue of kammererite as found in a series of remarkable pockets over 25 years ago.
Sharp reddish purple kammererite crystals to 8.0 mm, are scattered over a thin layer of kammererite micro crystals on black chromite.
This miniature plate is highlighted by well-placed crystals to 8 mm on a bed of sparkly kammererite microcrystals.
There are multiple generations of growth on this specimen, micro crystal base, then larger crystal over that, then another layer of micro crystals.
The lustrous, translucent crystals have textbook, tapering, almost scalenohedron form and show their transparency when backlit.
Kammererite of this quality was found over 25 years ago and is seldom seen for sale today.
