The specimen and faceted gem both come for Mina Las Manforas, Cantabria, Spain.
They are both absolutely gorgeous, and just plain huge!
The specimen is a well defined Sphalerite crystal group, with curvatures in some edges and faces.
Also has some great stepped growth visible. The transparency, honey color and luster are excellent.
The entire cluster is so gemmy and along for the ride, is a small tuft of dolomite crystals on top.
The back side of the specimen is contacted but appear to be rehealed.
The amazing cut gem is huge. At 85.46 carats in weight and 2.66 cm across, this is a beautiful gem.
It is deeper in color, a reddish orange honey coloring, but when the sunlight hits it, it is just amazing.
It does have some inclusions within, but they actually add to the beauty, but are hard to see without magnification.
It has great color dispersion as well.
If you collect rough and cut sets, this one is a must have for any collector!
