Rhodochrosite

Here is a nice large thumbnial size specimen of rhodochrosite from this famous mine.
This specimen is comprised of inter-grown, micro scalenohedral rosettes of lustrous,
gemmy, pink colored rhodochrosite, which give it a more botryoidal look.
Also found on the specimen are very small crystals of Hydroxyapophyllite and Barite.
The rhodochrosite is highly fluorescent, showing a bright red coloring under Longwave UV lighting.
This is one of the more unusual habits for N’Chwaning rhodochrosites.
It would have come out around the early 1980s.
