Out of an old collection comes this beautiful and unique miniature size specimen of Rhodochrosite.
These were discovered in the late 1970's.
Mt. St. Hilaire produced these reddish rhodos of this habit, a rare habit for rhodochrosite.
This is a superb example of this odd "trigonal" habit of rhodochrosite that is semi-transparent.
The rhodochrosite crystals show twinning as well. There is some slight matrix attached that appears to have micro rhodo crystals within.
This specimen is in overall great condition, with some slight chattering along the crystal edges and minimal contacting on the lower right edge.
