Gemmy rhodochrosite crystals with multiple growth termination,
on a oxide matrix, which is presumably Mn-rich.
A mix of gemmy pinkish to cherry-red rhodochrosite,
small high and low angle scalenohedral forms are present,
these are the striking focal point of this aesthetic specimen. The major crystal here is 1.74 cm x 1.90 cm.
All the crystals are a beautiful pinkish to cherry red color that is tops for the locality.
The crystals are sharply formed, no damage, just growth interrupted by the matrix at the edges.
An interesting and beautiful specimen.
