Here is an amazing specimen of Tourmaline from a not so common locale.
This is a large, inter-grown cluster of beautiful pinkish purple crystals. It has an odd iridescence running through most of the crystals, gives the crystals a very interesting shimmer.
On side you can see the inter connected crystals, the other side has some pretty amazing growth patterns on the surface.
Many have called this appearance etching, however it is due to the crystals growth and not etching. Similar to the surface growth patterns of some garnet from Brazil.
The top of the largest crystal has an oddly terminated and had a matte finish, across the rest of the top end, they all are terminated, however they formed against other crystals which gave them an odd look.
Overall a very interesting tourmaline specimen.
