Loose Faceted & Cabbed Benitoite Gemstones
Every item I sell is 100% guaranteed. I have personally collected at least 95% of the benitoite I sell.
However, If you would like to have your gemstone purchase certified by GIA, I can offer this for $190 per sapphire, emerald, ruby or tourmaline and $150 for all other gemstones including benitoite.
Please understand that this will delay shipping of your purchase by about 2 to 3 weeks. I will personally drive your stone to the GIA Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA, pick it up when it has been certified, and then ship it to you.
If you wish to get your stone certified, then be sure to purchase a certification for the correct stone at the time of your purchase of the gemstone, and then I will email you.

Here is a recent email from just one of our satisfied customers who has purchase a Benitoite gemstone from us.
Yes, I do very much like the 0.92ct benitoite cut stone you sent me. It is beautiful! I am always a little hesitant to buy gems online, as it is very hard to determine if you will get what you think you're getting. However, you were a pleasure to do business with; you were quick to send the stone and it was exactly as you described it! The stone had great fluorescence (as it should), and weighed exactly 0.1843 mg (aka 0.92ct). It was also very clean, as you said it was (I checked this with an 80X microscope and it is very clean!). I could not ask for a better seller. Thank you for restoring a great deal of my confidence in the online gem market! I hope you do well with your hobby-turned-profession! I'm sure you will with this kind of quality and service.
Your very satisfied customer,
-Ryan
Most crystals of benitoite are quite small, large faceted benitoite gemstones (over one carat) are increasingly rare and more valuable. Benitoite is a type II gemstone, meaning inclusions are more the norm than the exception, so benitoite's clarity shouldn't be judged the same way a typically clean stone like Tanzanite would be.
Due to the nature of Benitoite, like other precious gemstones such as Emerald and Ruby, are rarely flawless (IF) or even VVS. Faceted stones of this clarity command a much higher price. Some inclusions in Benitoite are normal, and widely accepted.
Type II Gemstone Grading Table (Includes: Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, Garnet, Seafoam Tourmaline, Iolite, Peridot, Benitoite)
Clarity Grade |
Quality |
Definitions |
VVS1 |
Extremely Fine Quality |
Gemstones are better than eye clean (i.e., have no visible inclusions) and have very few microscopic inclusions which are difficult to moderately difficult to detect under a 10x magnification loupe. |
VVS2 |
Extremely Fine Quality |
Gemstones are better than eye clean (i.e., have no visible inclusions) and have minor microscopic inclusions which can be detected under a 10x magnification loupe. Gemstones may have very minute visible inclusions, only seen from a side angle, but not face on. |
VS1 |
Very Fine Quality |
Minute inclusions are hardly visible to the naked eye. The beauty of the gem is not diminished in anyway. |
VS2 |
Fine Quality |
Small inclusions and feathers are hardly visible to the naked eye. However, the overall beauty of the gem is still not diminished. |
SI1 |
Good Quality. Lightly Included. |
Some visible inclusions present, but not serious enough to detract from the overall appearance of the gemstone. |
SI2 |
Medium to Good Quality. Lightly Included. |
These gems have inclusions which are moderately easy to detect with the naked eye. These inclusions are generally not visible to the friendly observer. |
I1, 12 &1 3 (also SI3) |
Medium to Lower Quality. Included. |
Included gems with internal flaws that are easily visible to the naked eye. Flaws will have a negative effect on the overall appearance of the gemstone. Generally, gemstones with I1, I2 or I3 grades are only used in commercial or mass produced jewelry and not in fine jewelry. |
1 carat = 1.00 3/4 carat = .75 1/2 carat = .50 1/4 carat = .25
Please be aware, that due to lighting, magnified photography, and the nature of benitoite, some smaller faceted benitoite gemstones may appear darker in the photos than the actual stone, so please read description.
